Côte de Beaune, France. ‘Here there is enough wood to notice though not enough to dominate the ripe, cool and airy aromas of Savigny style earth, wet stone, humus, dark pinot fruit and underbrush. There is outstanding richness and volume to the velvety and suppl e yet very serious flavors that display strikingly good persistence on the saline - infused finish. There is a hint of austerity but overall, this is a basically a Gravains of finesse, which is not always the case chez Pavelot.’

Côte de Beaune, France. ‘Moderate wood influence stops just short of inhibiting the clear expression of the pure extract of dark berry fruit, cassis, earth and sauvage hints. There is excellent richness to the laudably concentrated mid - palate that coats the mouth with dry extract and is given lift from the presence of an almost pungent minerality. This is a relatively powerful Guettes with outstanding depth and length on the mildly austere finish.’

Central Otago, New Zealand. Lovely aromatics of dark blackcurrant, black doris plum, dried herbs, spices and dried cherries. A lighter beautiful frame showing excellent concentration and complexity. A silky wine with an elegant brightly textured palate showing great poise, balance and finesse. This very special wine will age extremely well – it will reward patience in the cellar...

Languedoc-Roussillon, France. The wine is quite clearly Pinot Noir, albeit a rather full flavoured one, and finishes with balancing acidity and tannin and good palate persistence...

Marlborough, New Zealand. A "feminine" style, with supple tannins and savoury complexity. Strong varietal characters of dark cherry and summer fruit compote with some smoky oak and a long, juicy finish. Harmless crystals may form in the bottle...

Yarra Valley, Victoria. Suggestions of orange rind, baked rhubarb and roasted beetroot amongst sappy, foresty savoury notes. A busy, busy wine. Labyrinthine flavours to get lost in and a slinky texture that makes that possibility all the more alluring. Bright acid, relatively assertive and fine smudgy tannin. Terrific....
