Fabien Duveau Loire Valley, France
"In his 14th century underground cellars, Fabien Duveau embodies the 8th generation at the head of the Chacé family estate, which covers around fifteen hectares. Poyeux and Bourg are at the top of the bill with certified organic wines that are structured and elegant, with a beautiful aromatic persistence. The 2020s are a priority for the appellation. This is one of the revelations of the year.” — Bettane + Desseauve 2024
When speaking with vignerons from across Saumur-Champigny about who some of the up-and-coming "stars” are in the region, one name that comes up time and time again is Fabien Duveau. Cab Franc Chronicles, July 2025
2024 Hunaudière Saumur blanc
100% Chenin Blanc from a west facing vineyard near the top of the hill in the village of Saint Cyr en Bourg (next to Brézé) from vines more than 20 yo. Fabien explains that higher up on the hill there is more limestone and less silt and clay so better for whites (like Brézé). Whole bunch pressed and fermented with natural yeast 80% in concrete vat and 20% in aged barrels before being blended and aged for 6 months on fine lees before bottling. Ripe orchard fruit aromatics with freshness and lift. Supple fresh and finely structured on the palate with medium body and bright acidity giving very good length. Bottled un-fined, with a light filtration, in March 2025.
