Te Kano Life Pinot Noir 2020
This is gorgeously expressed on the nose, showing dark plum, thyme, game, warm mushroom, and roasted nut aromas. The palate displays excellent weight and refined mouthfeel, superbly complemented by velvety texture and beautifully melded tannins. Harmonious and seamless with a sustained, satisfying finish. At its best: now to 2032.

Red and ruby hues lead to a bouquet of complexity and layered bottle developments. Scents of fresh cherry and savoury hillside wild spice, raspberry - fresh and dried, plum and smoky barrel spice. Dry, taut, youthful, tasty and textured with flavours wild red berries and thyme, a lick of bacon oak and baking spices, wood smoke and earth. An abundance of fine to moderate tannins, medium+ acid line and lengthy finish. Best from 2025 through 2033+.

Te Kano Estate is a family-owned winery in Central Otago, New Zealand, dedicated to crafting premium wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region. Established by the Lloyd family, the estate spans four distinct vineyards across Central Otago and Waitaki, including sites in Bannockburn, Northburn, and Waitaki Valley. These diverse locations contribute to the complexity and character of Te Kano’s wines.
The name "Te Kano,” meaning "The Seed” in Māori, embodies the family’s commitment to sustainability and land rejuvenation. Through organic and regenerative farming practices, they aim to restore the natural balance of the land, ensuring its vitality for future generations. This philosophy is symbolized by their efforts to reintroduce native flora, including the iconic Kōwhai tree, to the Northburn site.
