Established by the Lloyd family, the estate spans four distinct vineyards across Central Otago and Waitaki, including sites in Bannockburn, Northburn, and Waitaki Valley. These diverse locations contribute to the complexity and character of Te Kano’s wines.
The name "Te Kano,” meaning "The Seed” in Māori, embodies the family’s commitment to sustainability and land rejuvenation. Through organic and regenerative farming practices, they aim to restore the natural balance of the land, ensuring its vitality for future generations. This philosophy is symbolized by their efforts to reintroduce native flora, including the iconic Kōwhai tree, to the Northburn site.
