In 1845, JG Scholz arrived in the Barossa and took up land now known as the Willows. G7 refers to seventh generation Scholz family who help create this spicy fruit driven Grenache blend. 80% Grenache and 20% Shiraz spend 12 months maturation in older French oak barrels. The wine is vibrant crimson in colour with lively fresh berry fruit succulence. The palate shows softly textured tannins with beautiful wild cherry fruits and the spicy overtones expected of Grenache, along with the strength and length of Shiraz. Drink over the next few years.
First planted in 1936 The Willows Vineyard is located on the banks of the North Para River near the village of Light Pass.
This northern Barossa location is distinguished by its cooling gully breezes during vintage, providing slow ripening and a clearer expression of berry and spice flavours in red wines and lifted varietal fruit characters in whites.
