The vineyard is planted approximately 60% Marsanne and 40% Roussanne. The Marsanne was planted in 1973 with a clone from Gol Gol. The Roussanne was planted in 1983-85 with the first cuttings brought into Australia via CSIRO Merbein.
Generally the Marsanne is picked a week or 10 days before the Roussanne, so they are fermented separately. The fruit is crushed, destemmed and basket pressed. The fermentations are mostly completed in tank, and then the wine is racked to old hogsheads for 8-9 months. There is no new wood and no MLF. No fining. Limited lees stirring in recent years.
