Rolf Binder Wines
The arrival to Australia in 1950 of Hungarian immigrant Rolf Binder and his Austrian wife, Franziska, saw the beginning of a dynasty of fine winemakers of the Barossa Valley. While picking grapes they met local vignerons Chris Vohrer and Wilhelm Abel and worked a vintage at their winery, which, by 1955, the couple had purchased and renamed ‘Veritas’. In the mid-seventies the company went through a rapid expansion, in what was then the beginning of the red wine boom. This coincided with the first crops being harvested from the company’s own vineyards. Rolf and Christa renamed the company Rolf Binder in commemoration of their father’s hard work and vision. Today the brother-sister team continue the legacy, celebrating sixty one years of family winemaking this year.
This deep blood red wine fills the glass with aromas reminiscent of rich red berries and dark bitter chocolate. Dark cherries enhanced with cassis, anise and pepper mingle on the medium to full bodied palate. Creamy tannins and complex acidity lends to the overall perception of a smooth, rich red wine, with a nice persistence of flavour.
