Frankland River, W.A. Laissez Faire is the ultimate in natural wine, made in ridiculously small batches from hand-harvested grapes.
Wines under the Laissez Faire label almost make themselves. They come from ideally situated vineyards with low density plantings, or dry-grown bush vines in favourable micro-climates - in other words, from vineyards in natural balance.
One of the main reasons for creating this range was that we wanted a sense of place to come out in the wines. We wanted to taste where they're from and what the soil and climate delivers.
The Laissez Faire range is made with a conscious effort to reduce additions and maximise purity and quality. It is suitable for vegans.
The Vintage:
2016 saw asuper vintage across the Great Southern area of W.A.
The Winemaking:
Fruit was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed. Juice was settled without the addition of enzymes, sulphur or acid. Once settled, it fermented naturally at low temperature for six weeks. The wine sat on yeast lees for two months without the addition of sulphur, prior to bottlling.
The Wine:
Intense aromas of preserved lemon, along with a mineral, almost crystaline, purity. Flavour-wise, the wine is typical of what's expected of this variety. Flavours of lemon and lime combine with a mineral-like acidity and a long finish.
