Muscats from their national birthplace are revered by connoisseurs and pleasure-seekers alike. They are classified by blend age to mark the dazzling progression in richness and intensity as older stocks are blended in from barrels. Grand Rutherglen Muscat blends precious stocks of great complexity matured in oak for up to 25 years.
Brown Muscat is a clone of the oldest and noblest variety of Muscat, Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains (Muscat of Frontignan is a synonym).
The wine is a blend of various ages, sweetness levels and flavours, a combination highlighting the benefits of blending selected parcels from different years. The resultant wine is better than any of the individual components used in the production.
Colour, Nose and Palate
The colour is brown with a green edge while the nose exudes luscious aromas of ripe raisins. The full-bodied palate is rich in dried raisins, showing an impressive balance between aged and fresh younger material.
Grand Rutherglen Muscat is a great match for fullflavoured terrines, stews, spicy Asian cuisine and sauced meats. It is sublime paired with dessert dishes containing caramel, toffee and chocolate.
Fortified wines are aged in barrel and not intended for lengthy maturation in bottle. Consume within 18 months of purchase to enjoy at their best.
