Chardonnay is generally recognised as the world’s greatest white variety, a versatile grape that produces fine wines in many different wine regions. The Blue Pyrenees Chardonnay has been created from four outstanding fruit parcels selected from mature vineyard blocks. 75% per cent of this wine was matured for 12 months in a combination of new to four year old French oak barrels. Traditional and contemporary techniques were used to craft this elegant wine, notably yeast lees stirring or battonage, which has added both complexity and richness to the vineyard derived fruit flavours. The result is a medium-bodied crisp dry white wine with the classic flavour profile sought in great chardonnays.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Straw with bright green hues.
Aroma:

Grapefruit, toasty French oak and doughy yeast dominate the aromas.
Flavour:

Yeast flavours feature strongly on the palate, neatly interwoven with the less obvious cedary French oak and the refreshing grapefruit and minerally finish which extends the flavour length and makes a crisp dry style with lingering fruitiness.
Cellaring: Made to enjoy now but can be cellared with confidence for 3 years
