The March Tasting Wash-up

17 March 2017
Thanks to all who made the Wineseek tasting such an enjoyable event.
The Domaine Joseph Cattin Cremant Brut NV is dry, clean and delicious and with the coffin Bay oysters, worked a treat and their glorious Pinot Gris 2015 is a stunning textural beauty.
The J. Moreau & Fils Petit Chablis 2014 was a sensation, great wine from a very good vintage. Yhe white highlight of the night.
The Alliance Vouvray Tranquille Les Lys 2016 was a surprize to many and from the orders I received at the tasting on of the hits of the night. However I thought the Alliance D’Anjou Rose ‘Les Legeriens’ 2015 a little flabby.
The Henri de Villamont Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2014 was a little disappointing especially when it was from such a good vintage.
The Lunar Apoge Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2015 was excellent drinking and will only improve with a few years in the cellar.
Chateau Bois de Rolland Bordeaux Superieur 2014, made from old vines (vieilles vignes) is the best Bordeaux Superieur I can remeber tasting and awesomely good value to boot.
Haut Boutisse St Emilion Grand Cru 2011, a wonderful example of a Grand Cru Saint Emilion, the red highlight of the evening.
Segur de Cabanac St Estephe Cru Bourgeois 2007, from a very ordinary vintage this wine shows very good wine can be made, simply delicious.
The Petits Detours their Pinot Noir 2014 and a Chardonnay 2014, are both excellent drinking wines that defy their $17.99 price tag.

Cheers Michael @ Wineseek
