The Tscharke new releases

30 July 2014
I was visited by Damien Tscharke last week to taste all his new releases from his Barossa Grounds Collection.
This was a truly awesome line up of wines from the exceptional 2012 vintage.
Damien is the 6th generation of his family to farm the Marananga area of the Barossa. The fruit for the Barossa Grounds wines come from three Estate vineyards, Stonewell, Gnadenfrei and Greenock Creek.
I must admit to having a passion for Damien’s Grenache, even his 2011 from that terribly wet and cold vintage was damn good!
The new Tscharke Marananga Grenache 2012 is outstanding along with all the other wines from this vintage.
The range also includes a GSM, Shiraz and the single vineyard wines a Gnadenfrei Shiraz and the Stonewell  Cabernet Sauvignon and Stonewell Mataro.
Plus Damien has produced a crackingly good value shiraz from three different patches within the Marananga sub region.
Labelled as Shiraz, Shiraz, Shiraz 2012 to reflect the sites from which the grapes came. This is one stunning wine, juicy, savoury, spicy with subtle oak and soft tannins finishing long and lingering on the palate. @ $19.99 a bottle this wine is a must for the shiraz lover, it is a true bargain!
This wine has just won the accolade of being one of South Australia’s Hot 100 wines in the Adelaide Review.
If you have never tried a Tscharke wine before, do yourself and favour and try one of these 2012's!
Cheers, Michael @ Wineseek
