Dalwhinnie 'The Pinnacle' Shiraz 2012

Pyrenees, Victoria. The nose of this wine is just incredible with its jubey musk stick aromas and just a hint of sandalwood. The impression on the palate is of a big rich linear attack with plenty of dark berry fruit concentration supported by medium toast Allier French oak. This full bodied single vineyard Shiraz is vinified and matured the same way as SWR but has a lot more power. The Pinnacle is all about ‘masculinity’ highlighting the ancient Barossa Shiraz clone. This is the best Pinnacle produced so far and needs time in the cellar...

d'Arenberg Wild Pixie Shiraz 2015

McLaren Vale, South Australia. Lovely dark, savoury Shiraz fruits on the nose. Cocoa, blackberry, cedar, spice and roast meats. The palate has incredible depth but at the same time has a lovely elegance driven by a fine core of graphite like tannins and a deliciously mouth-watering acidity. Serious Shiraz but not of the sweet, jammy kind. Complex, dark, savoury, powerful yet elegant. A wine that will continue to reward careful cellaring and is sure to seduce even the most sophisticated of wine palates.
