Take one of Australia's finest winemakers, a premium Adelaide Hills vineyard, hand selected Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills growers and the willingness to take a punt and the end result is Fox Gordon. Wine industry specialists Sam and Rachel (nee Fox) Atkins and Jane Gordon, teamed up with friend and leading winemaker Tash Mooney, to create Fox Gordon in 2000, a family run company specialising in ultra premium wines celebrating 'characters' from the three families via the name given to each wine within the range.
The King Louis Cabernet Sauvignon is produced each vintage by harnessing vineyard sites coupled with grower attitude & skill. This has resulted in seriously varietal yet tremendously muscular wine & has consistently done so since its inauguration.
COLOUR: Rich red
BOUQUET: Tight and alluring as is the King Louis style. The wine opens with gunsmoke, flinty aromas and over the next hour in the bottle or glass shows more and more blueberry and blackberry fruit that this single vineyard produces every year.
PALATE: The flinty aromas follow through to the palate. As a young wine the King Louis shows dense blueberry fruit surrounded by a ball of structure and texture….A bit like fried ice cream at the local Chinese. With a year or two in bottle the fruit will become more dense and filling. This King Louis style is a wine that changes each year…patient cellaring would be reward
