The Brothers in Arms label was created by brothers Guy and Tom Adams to showcase the historic “Metala vineyards”, which the family has owned for five generations. It was the brothers’ great-greatgrandfather who purchased the “Metala” property 125 years ago and planted the first four acres of vines, two of Shirazand two of Cabernet Sauvignon, in 1891. Three years later a further four acres of Shiraz were planted. Since then the vineyard has grown substantially in size, but these original plantings continue to flourish and form the backbone for our Shiraz flagship wine.
The maritime growing conditions of Langhorne Creek in South Australia are ideal for producing great red wines of balance, structure and texture. This is unquestioningly red wine country and this wine aims to convey the essence of the estate and the region. To do so we deliberately bottle and hold it back for release as a four year old red wine with over two years bottle maturation.
The Brothers in Arms Shiraz encapsulates the very best Shiraz our vineyards are capable of.
Winemaker’s comments
Deep dark red/plum in colour. Gentle black pepper and spice support lifted redcurrant and raspberry aromas along with subtle darker fruits such as blackcurrant and plums, with a hint of mint.
Medium bodied in structure, the palate displays a balance of regional sweet red fruits, pepper/spice and plush, soft tannins that result in great length and complexity for enjoyment over the next 5+ years.
