The vineyard was planted on the steep Eastern slopes of the Grampians in 1969. It represented part of the second coming of the Victorian wine industry which had seen very little new plantings since the turn of the century. The region had always had a pedigree for great wines with the first vineyards in Grampians being planted at Bests & Seppelts, in the early 1860?s.

From our single vineyard planted in 1969 on the eastern slopes of the Grampians. A nice even year with little in the way of heat spikes in the region. The Shiraz was picked in early April, then fermented in traditional open fermenters with hand plunging twice a day. The wine was pressed off to barrel where it matured in French oak (20% new) for 18 months before bottling. Drinking well now but will also reward cellaring to 2022.
