The Blue wines are a reflection of the site where they’re grown and an expression of  the season, conceived in the vineyard and crafted through judicious winemaking.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN It was a cool year when some cool growers approached a cool winemaker and said "how ‘bout making some cool wine?”  "Cool” we said, "cool” they said and away the project went. The wines were made and quietly slumbered in barrel until the time came to meet the bottle.  Then a cry was heard "what’ll we call it?  Streuth we had better come up with a cool name. I reckon ‘Blueprint’” said one scratching his head, "let’s ‘Trademark’ that” said another with a glint in his eye, then the older and wiser of the  group cracked a big smile and   shouted "‘Bluemark’” and so the name for the wine was born.

VINEYARD The Shiraz grapes were grown in the North-Western Barossa by traditional family growers. Vineyard soil is typically red-brown earth over red clay.

WINEMAKING The grapes were harvested in several lots from late February to early April. The grapes were destemmed into open-top fermenters where twice-daily hand pump-overs gently extracted colour and flavour from the grapes. After 7-10 days on skins, the fermented grapes were pressed with a traditional press.  Wine was then filled to barrel where completion of primary and malolactic fermentation took place, adding complex barrel ferment characters.  The wines were matured in new and seasoned American oak hogsheads for eighteen months before    blending and bottling.

TASTING NOTES Bluemark Shiraz is deep black in colour. The boquet is inviting with aromas of ripe plum, Christmas cake, fruit compote and chocolate oak. The full-bodied palate is rich and intense with abundance of flavour. Ripe dark fruits dominate and are complimented by toasty oak barrel maturation characters. Tannins are soft and integrated adding structure and depth without detracting from the rich fruit. The length is very generous and completes this very enjoyable Barossa Shiraz.
