Martinborough, New Zealand. This wine showcases the typical notes of the Alana Chardonnay with distinct lemon sherbet, minerality and a hint of oyster pearl. Restraint and elegance is a key feature of the winemaking, showing an understated power with a long lingering finish.
Wine making:
-the three clones of Chardonnay (Mendoza, 15 & 95) were hand picked, hand sorted and whole bunch pressed from the 26th to 30th of March 2007
-the juice was fermented partially in stainless and finished in 100% French oak from varying coopers and varying ages of oak
-the wines stayed on gross lees till November 2007
-once blended after racking, the wines were protein fined only
