In recognition of McLaren Vale’s tradition of supplying other varieties and regions with our finest red grape, this Pertaringa Shiraz is named Undercover. The 2010 Undercover is made from old vine Shiraz fruit hand-selected from Pertaringa’s vineyard and made by senior winemaker Shane Harris. Pertaringa hopes that this very bottle of Undercover can reveal the essence of McLaren Vale Shiraz.
Tasting Note A kaleidoscope of fruits with ink-like intensity is followed by waves of vibrant Satsuma Plum, black cherries, charred beetroot and olives.
The complex array of fruit interplays on the palate with freshly laid asphalt, earth and fine grain French oak tannins that all support the youthful and persistent finish. Decanting before serving will help the wine open up for your immediate enjoyment. The Undercover will also reward your foresight in setting some aside for the next decade!
