The Wineseek tasting wash-up

12 July 2015
Thanks to all for making the last weeks a most enjoyable evening.
The Stephano Lubiano NV Brut was a hit and went a treat with the delicious Tassie oysters - it is the best time of the year for oysters.
The Frankland Estate Isolation Riesling '14 is tightly wound and with time this wine will blossom into into yet another classic form the area.
The tasters loved the Villa Wolf Pinot Gris and the Stift Goettweig Gruner Veltliner, many not having tasted a German or Austrian white nor a Gruner Veltliner before.
The Delta Pinot Noir '12 from Marlbrough was not in the same league as the magnificent Wantirna Lily Pinot Noir '12, but all tasters thought the Delta was non the less great value.
The S C Pannell Tempranillo Touriga '14 was an eye opener for all! Spain's top red variety and the top Portuguese red variety coming together for a marriage made in Heaven! A super interesting, super savoury, great drinking wine.
The Langhorne Creek Heartland Shiraz '13 was much loved, that hint of salty Dutch licorice that the reds from this area display  shining through and beguiling many tasters.
The Glaetzer Bishop Shiraz '13 was big, bold and beautiful in comparison to the more subdued Heartland and the Balnaves Cabernet from the pretty ordinary 2011 vintage in the Coonawarra surprised with its dusky berry fruit and elegance.
Both the Chemin by Punt Road wines, the Syrah '13 and Chardonnay '14 were well received, I thought the Syrah terrific.

Cheers for now Michael @ Wineseek
