The Wineseek tasting wash-up

30 April 2015
Thanks to all attendees at our tasting on Wednesday evening April 29th. It was a super line up of wines from all corners of the globe. The tasters highlights judged on orders received were the Crabtree Riesling, the Yangarra GSM and the Brothers in Arms No6 with an honourable mention to the Granacha. I thought the Langhe Nebbiolo  and Frogmore Creek pinot  both stunning as well.
Following is the list of the wines tasted with a brief note on each.
Abellio Albarino 2013
Galicia, North West Spain. Lovely fruit on the mid palate finishing dry and crisp.
Crabtree Watervale Riesling 2014
Clare Valley, South Australia. One of the Clare’s smaller producers, Gold medal winner at the Melbourne Wine Show. Lemon zest and lime citrus spice, the fruit concentrated and balanced with finely textured, juicy acidity.
Sepp Moser Gruner Veltliner 2014
Kremstal, Austria. A fruit driven, tangy, zingy, great drinking with spicy Asian food. Think sauvignon blanc crossed with a crisp riesling!
Moorooduc Estate Chardonnay 2012
Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. From one of the best Peninsula vintages ever, stunning wine. Beautiful aromatics with good intensity, texture and length with plenty of acid to provide balance.
Bodegas Patrochino Zinio Garnacha 2011
Rioja, Spain. Juicy unwooded grenache, medium bodied, fresh with aromas of tart strawberry and raspberry. Extraordinary good value.
Frogmore Creek Pinot Noir 2010
Coal River Valley, Tasmania. Gold medal winner at the Melbourne Wine Show. Lifted aromas of dark cherries and fresh roasted coffee. The palate is rich and lengthened with a silky tannin structure. A ripping pinot.
Dourthe No1 Bordeaux Rouge 2012
Bordeaux, France. Great value cabernet, merlot, franc blend from Bordeaux’s biggest producer.
Yangarra GSM 2013
McLaren Vale, South Australia. Just released to huge critical acclaim from one of the top McLaren Vale producers. Super wine - licorice, black fruit, fragrant dried herbs and spice. Medium to full bodied, chocolaty and meaty, lovely acidity, grips with a bit of fine grain tannin.
Burlotto Langhe Nebbiolo DOC 2013
Piedmont, Italy. Decant and drink or keep to 10 years, earthy and spicy with hints of violets, licorice and leather. Sublime.
Brothers in Arms No6 Shiraz Cabernet 2010
Langhorne Creek, South Australia. Spice and herb aroma. Rosemary fragrance mixed with plum and dark red fruits. Juicy berries up front coupled with talc and fine drying tannins.
Cape Barren Native Goose Shiraz 2013
McLaren Vale, South Australia. Richly textured wine, mouth-filling with juicy layers of dark berries, spice, plum and chocolate. Smooth finish capped by structured, soft tannins.

All wines are available to order @ Wineseek.

Cheers, Michael @ Wineseek.
