Brisbane wining and dining, dinner day two

17 May 2010
Our second evening found us out in the country N/W of Brisbane to stay with friends for the night. Dinner was a 10 kilo suckling pig we cooked on the bbq, it was delicious. We accompanied it with a stuffing/terrine of apple bread crumbs, sage and wine, watercress salad, heirloom tomato salad and roasted sputna potatoes. We finished with a fig frangipane tart made by our host, it was mouth watering. An aperitif of Pol Roger Champagne was taken pre dinner, a lovely palate cleanser!  We then tasted a 1998 Grosset Watervale Riesling which was a big disappointment - over the hill and down the drain it went. Solace was found however in a bottle of Louis Lator Chassange Montrachet 2005, a delicious, well balanced mouth filling wine, great length - a highlight. Stay tuned for what we drank with the suckling pig...
