Super OZ Sangiovese

23 May 2012

Terry Monichino dropped in to show me his range of wines last week, a great range of very good value wine particularly his Italian range. Amongst his ‘Italians’ one wine stood out for me, not only for the quality but the price that makes this sensational value. The wine is the Monichino Sangiovese 2008, from the Goulburn Valley region in Central Victoria.
There are beautiful fruit aromas of raspberry and cherry with a hint of oak on the nose. The palate is rich with these flavours with lovely earthiness and enhanced with soft tannins and spicy oak. To be enjoyed now or cellar for four years.

An Australian Sangiovese that if you close your eyes whilst taking a sip - you could almost be in Tuscany!

Cheers for now, Michael @ Wineseek.
